If you don’t yet have an online brokerage, or perhaps you’re interested in switching, I highly recommend you consider TradeKing (part of Ally Financial). Besides having very low trade fees at $4.95 per trade, its interface is very user friendly, it has great research tools, and it includes educational videos for everyone from starting to seasoned investors.
Interested in starting your own web page? If so, I highly recommend you consider Bluehost. It’s cheap, incredibly user friendly (you’ll be up-and-running in a matter of minutes), and my favorite — great support! Anytime I have had a question, I called their support line and was able to talk to an actual person who quickly solved my problem.
- Yahoo! Finance — great charts, news, and research! I provide some basics on how to use this site to get started with your analysis in this post.
- Seeking Alpha — their web page is useful, but I get more benefit from their app. If you have a tablet or smartphone, download their free app. You can quickly enter your portfolio into the app, then get targeted daily news updates specific to your portfolio.
- Market Realist — a great site for sector-specific news, especially industrial-related sectors. Their articles are always well-researched, including both fundamental data and political influences on the sector.
